A mother is always the beginning. She is how things begin.

About YOUr doula,

After becoming a mother myself, I was naturally drawn to supporting other mothers on their journey.  I started down the path of supporting new parents by becoming a childbirth educator. Shortly thereafter, I trained and certified through DONA International as a birth and postpartum doula and became a Certified Lactation Counselor.

I live in Portsmouth and am the mother of three amazing individuals, two adult sons and a teenage daughter. When I am not caring for mothers and babies I love spending time outside. You can find me at the beach, on my paddleboard, swimming in the ocean, working in my garden or hiking through the woods.

My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Human Development, Counseling and Family Studies from University of Rhode Island.  I am a Certified Perinatal Doula through the State Of Rhode Island and DONA Certified Postpartum Doula. I also have 12 years experience as a Certified Lactation Counselor and have completed the Advanced Newborn Care Specialist training through Newborn Care Solutions.  In 2024 I attended Perinatal Mental Health training through UCLA Division of Population Behavioral Health.

In addition to my doula work my professional background includes my work as a research assistant for a study on delayed umbilical cord clamping at Women & Infants Hospital.  I also have experience as a nanny.

APPROACH

My approach to postpartum care is to show up for you where you are, without judgment, and nurture and support you and your family.  What that looks like can vary from family to family or even day to day. I am there to provide emotional support. I am there to offer you some much needed time to yourself to rest, shower, rejuvenate while I take care of your baby and or help you with washing and sterilizing bottles / pumping supplies or preparing you a meal.  I am there to provide guidance as you learn to feed, soothe, bathe, swaddle or wear your baby with confidence. I am there to  gently support you as you grow into your new role as parent. There are many right ways to do things. I provide support, guidance, information and perspective while you find your way as parents.  My philosophy is to support yours.

Let’s chat!

I’d be happy to discuss how I can best support your family.  I can also verify your insurance benefits. You may be eligible for 15 hours of postpartum support at no cost to you!  You may call, text or email to start the conversation.
