Gentle Beginnings

There are not enough positive things to say about Lauren. To begin, her experience is unparalleled. As a lactation consultant, doula, and newborn caretaker she is an absolute expert in her field. One of my biggest concerns when hiring a caretaker for our newborn was safety. From the moment I met Lauren, I knew I never had to stress about the safety of our newborn, and the peace of mind that brought us was priceless. She is up-to-date on safe sleeping practices. She identifies risk. She knows what to do in an emergency and makes excellent decisions in the moment. Lauren never ceased to amaze me with her newborn knowledge and consistently cited research-based recommendations regarding newborn care. Lauren exceeded expectations by helping our family adjust to life with a newborn. She was extraordinarily dependable and always on time. As I am writing this, I am filled with sadness that she is no longer with our family - however I am excited for the possibility that she may be part of yours. Without a doubt, we look back on our first year of being new parents and count our blessings that Lauren was such a major part of it.

I was referred to Lauren by a friend. I had no clue what we really needed to prepare us for one the most amazing blessings we were about to receive, the birth of our first daughter. I also never even considered a doula but my friend raved about Lauren and I know how important it is to ask for help. I can also really struggle with receiving help. Lauren really helped us get our sh+t together. Literally and figuratively. As she says "so it doesn’t hit the fan." Spending money on getting help can seem daunting (for me personally) but for us we felt like we had no choice. My husband had to go back to work the day we left the hospital and we both had business to keep running so we invested in a postpartum doula. We are also both visual learners so we were able to absorb how to find our rhythm through Laurens guidance, she really showed us the ropes. Lauren is someone who can come into your home, help guide you in so many ways but also she has a unique quality, she can support the beautiful mess and she does this without judging. Being in someone's home while they go through such an intimate transition is a sacred space. I don't know if I have the right words to explain my gratitude for Lauren and how she really just showed up for our family, barley knowing us and able to truly help us go from surviving to thriving. Having a doula or any sort of help is such a gift but I do know something my husband and I value the most is experiences over things so we invested in our families mental and physical wellbeing. Whatever you do, build your team aka village to help guide you in a time that is one of life's biggest blessings as well as delicate transitions. 

I refer to Lauren as a "Master Doula" ...she has been doing this for years and is extremely connected so you can get the support and guidance you need. Thank you Lauren, our family was lucky to have you.

Our family cannot recommend Lauren Phillips enough as a post-partum doula! We literally could not have gotten through the newborn period without her! Lauren was not only our post-partum doula but also was our birth doula, and in both roles always went above and beyond to make sure our needs were met and our baby was well taken care of. Lauren is kind, knowledgeable, experienced, and extremely reliable. From the first day we felt totally comfortable with Lauren watching our daughter overnight, and she always took excellent care of her. Lauren seems to have a never ending supply of energy, and was able to accomplish so much overnight while simultaneously taking care of our daughter’s every need. Lauren has been a huge support as our daughter has gotten older, and whenever I have a question she is always eager to help out. Again, we can’t recommend her enough!
