The Rhode Island Doula Reimbursement Bill
Ensuring Accessible Doula Services for All
In 2022, the Rhode Island Doula Reimbursement Bill was passed, marking a significant step towards improving maternal and postpartum support. This law mandates that private insurance companies and Medicaid in Rhode Island are now required to cover doula services, ensuring that more families can access these essential services without financial barriers.
I am currently in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Health and Medicaid. My applications are pending with Tufts, Neighborhood Health and Mass Health. I bill insurance directly so there is no out of pocket cost for covered hours. You can verify your covered hours by calling the phone number on your insurance card or contact me so I can confirm your eligibility.
You can arrange for postpartum support during your pregnancy, or any time after your baby is born. You are eligible to use your doula benefit up until your baby’s first birthday.
